DU's Leadership Studies Program
What is the Leadership Studies Department (LDRS) at DU?
Leadership Studies consists of two outstanding cohort-based programs for undergraduate students: Colorado Women's College Leadership Scholars (CWCLS) and PLP. Each program provides students with leadership theory courses and community events outside of the classroom. Students who complete either program receive a Minor in Leadership Studies.
Who is Leadership Studies for?
Both LDRS programs are for incoming first-year undergraduate students at DU who want to belong to a larger community and dive into learning about the study of leadership. Programs pair well with almost every major.
Does LDRS offer scholarships?
PLP is a cost neutral program. PLP does not offer financial scholarships for students, however, there is no cost to students for participating in the program. CWCLS offers a scholarship of up to $6,000 per student and there is no cost for participating in the program.
Requirements to Join:
- Must apply to DU and be accepted first.
- Must complete the PLP or CWCLS application (apply through websites).
- This application is separate from DU’s undergraduate application.
- Must be an incoming first-year undergraduate student.
Benefits of Joining:
- A strong cohort community.
- Students earn a minor in Leadership Studies.
- Engaging and impactful events, speakers, retreats, and community engagement.
- Connection to a large world-wide alumni network.
- Financial scholarship (CWCLS only).
Do I need to commit to DU before I apply to PLP or CWCLS?
Does applying mean I must attend DU?
No, to both questions. Any student who is accepted to DU may apply to join PLP or CWCLS, and you do not have to be committed to DU. Applying is not binding. If a student is accepted, they may decline the offer because of interest in another program at DU or they can decide to attend a different school. Since space is limited, we encourage all interested students to apply, even if they are unsure what university they want to attend.
Can you join PLP and CWCLS?
No. These two programs have similar requirements, benefits and conclude with earning a Minor in Leadership Studies, so there is no reason to join both.
What is the difference between PLP and CWCLS?
The main difference between the two programs is that CWCLS focuses on a culturally responsive leadership curriculum through a feminist lens, while PLP is a broader study of leadership theory. Second, CWCLS offers a scholarship, but PLP does not. Lastly, PLP requires first-year students to live together on-campus in a dorm community; CWCLS does not require students to live on-campus.

The 2025-26 FAFSA and CASFA are now open!
CASFA, the Colorado Application for State Financial Aid, is the state financial aid application for undocumented, Colorado ASSET students.
The purpose of CASFA is to determine the need for financial aid awards for students historically excluded from receiving state and federal financial aid. CASFA positively supports families and is a logical next step in efforts to erase equity gaps and put college in reach for the families who benefit most from a postsecondary education.
Start or Complete the CASFA
FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, allows students to apply for federal student aid such as federal grants, work-study funds and loans. Completing and submitting the FAFSA gives students access to the largest source of aid to help them pay for college or career school.
In addition, many states and colleges use FAFSA information to determine eligibility for state and school aid. Some private aid providers may use FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid.
Start or Complete the FAFSA
To learn more about the FAFSA and CASFA, please visit the CDHE website.

Universities that Recognize IB
Hello Seniors,
The information in the link below is on IBO.org and I thought it might be helpful as you start your serious college searches. I can't confirm how often each university updates this information, but it's a start.
Universities that Recognize IB
I typed in US--Colorado and found 10 schools that accept IB in some form. Click on a school for general information and then scroll to the bottom of each university page and choose "Diploma Programme" or "Diploma Programme Courses" for information and then check out "Credit Policy" for how your IB courses might be credited. You can check out schools throughout the world!
Hope this helps your research. Good luck.

University of Central Florida
CF is making a significant change to its undergraduate application and admission process to provide prospective students with a more structured timeline and earlier notification of their admission status. Starting with the application cycle for Summer 2025 and Fall 2025, UCF will transition from a straight rolling admission process to an early action (EA) plan for first-time-in-college (FTIC) students.
Under the new process, FTIC students who wish to apply for early action for the Summer 2025 or Fall 2025 term must submit their application by Oct. 15, 2024. All required application materials must be received by Nov. 1, 2024. FTIC applicants who meet these deadlines will receive a final admission decision or deferral for additional information on Nov. 15, 2024. The university will continue to operate on rolling admission for applications completed and submitted after Nov. 1, 2024.
Key Dates for Early Action Applicants:
- Early Action Application Deadline: Oct. 15, 2024
- Early Action Material Submission Deadline: Nov. 1, 2024
- Early Action Decision Release Notification Date: Nov. 15, 2024
“Transitioning to this early action and modified rolling admission process reflects our commitment to providing prospective Knights with a clear and timely admission experience, while maintaining flexibility for those students who prefer a rolling process,” says Alicia Keaton, interim associate vice president for enrollment planning and management. “We understand that the college application process can be stressful, and this change will allow families to operate on a timeline that works best for them, helping them to better plan for their future.”
Early action at UCF is non-binding, meaning that admitted students are not obligated to submit an enrollment deposit upon admission and have until May 1, 2025, to make their final decision. This flexibility allows students to explore their options and make the most informed choice about their college education.
The early action plan is part of UCF’s ongoing efforts to enhance the admissions process and improve the overall experience for applicants. The university remains dedicated to providing an enriching and inclusive environment that empowers students to transform their aspirations into achievements.
Prospective first-year students and their families are encouraged to visit the UCF Undergraduate Admissions website for more information on the early action process and to access resources for completing their application. In-person and virtual information sessions and one-on-one admissions counseling options are also available for families who seek support.
