Family and Consumer Sciences is an exciting elective department offering credits in both practical and elective categories. We specialize in meeting students' current needs and preparing them for the future in personal and professional skills. Through our classes students can pursue skill advancement in career areas including Culinary Arts and Child Development. Students may also obtain college credit through our Early Childhood Education classes.
To broaden the learning of our students, we offer FCCLA Family Career and Community Leaders of America a national and state based organization. The occupational portion is for students in the career based classes while the consumer portion focuses on personal skills. We have a state competition every spring in which DCHS has had numerous state champions. Students enjoy participating in this active groups while furthering their education at the same time. Our focuses are leadership, service, cooperation, and responsibility.
