Dance/Social Functions Policy for Douglas County High
Dances and other social functions are held to provide an enjoyable and wholesome form of entertainment for the students at Douglas County High School. Only students currently in high school up to the age of 20 will be allowed at DCHS dances. Those who are not current DCHS students must have a signed permission form in order to attend. The school must receive guest permission forms by the due date and time listed on the form and guests must provide a picture ID. Adults age 21 and older may not attend dances. Students must show their Douglas County High School student ID for admission. Students are expected to dress appropriately when attending school functions and inappropriate dress will result in dismissal from the function. Students who leave a school function without notifying an Administrator prior to leaving, will not be allowed to re-enter. All school and district rules will be enforced at school functions. Inappropriate behavior at school events may result in loss of privileges to attend future dances, games or activities, suspension and/or expulsion. This includes but is not limited to the use of noise makers at school events such as dances, activities, athletic events, graduation and any other school sponsored activity.
Douglas County High School hosts 5 different dances throughout the school year.
- Back to School “Color” Dance – all DCHS students invited (9-12th grade)– held in August (no non-DCHS students allowed)
- Homecoming Dance – all DCHS students (9-12th grade) and guests invited with appropriate guest form turned in and approved by DCHS administration – held in September
- Wish Week Dance – all all DCHS students (9-12th grade) invited – held in January (no non-DCHS students allowed)
- Prom & After Prom – only DCHS 11th & 12th grade students allowed (and guests invited with appropriate guest form turned in and approved by DCHS administration – held in April.
- Senior Send-Off/End of the Year Dance - all DCHS students invited (9-12th grade)– held in May (no non-DCHS students allowed)
Homecoming
Not all DCHS dances allow outside guests - you must check with the DCHS Administration if guests are permitted to a certain event.
If outside guests are allowed to attend our scheduled dance, the DCHS guest form MUST be received and approved prior to purchasing tickets. Guests will not be permitted to enter the event without prior approval. All guests must present a photo ID (student ID or driver’s license) at the door as their name will be linked to the DCHS student they are attending with.
ONLY 1 GUEST PER STUDENT ALLOWED. All guests must accompany a DCHS student. Guests MUST BE UNDER THE AGE OF 21 AND AT LEAST IN THE 9TH GRADE. Middle School students are not permitted to attend.
Guests to Douglas County High School events are expected to behave, dance, and dress appropriately for attendance and participation. No costumes, masks, hats, or other inappropriate attire is allowed. It is the expectation that all guests of any Douglas County High School event demonstrate behavior and dress, which are appropriate to the event. Douglas County High School will enforce the Dance Policy. Students and guests are expected to dance appropriately, according to the policies in the student planner. Students and/or their guest attending DCHS events will not be allowed to display negative behavior or behave or dress in a manner that would disrespect the event and/or dishonor other students. Douglas County High School reserves the right to deny admission to any guest that does not follow these guidelines. In addition, Douglas County High School reserves the right to ask guests to leave if their behavior, including their dress and dancing, is inappropriate.
Douglas County High School reserves the right to search any tote, bag, duffel bag or purse that is the possession of a student or guest.

2025 DCHS Prom & After Prom
The 2025 Prom Dance will be held on Saturday, April 5th at Spruce Mountain Ranch from 8:00 pm-11:00 pm. Following the dance, After Prom will be held from 11:00 pm-3:00 am. This year After Prom will be held at the MAC!!! You do not need to attend Prom to attend After Prom. After prom will include swimming, games, prizes, food, and more!
Important information
- Prom and After Prom tickets will be sold through GoFan, tickets for both events will be on sale Monday, March 31st-Friday, April 4th at 3:00 pm. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOORS.
- A guest is anyone that does not attend DCHS and is at least in 9th grade but younger than age 21.
- All DCHS students must present a CURRENT DCHS student I.D. to enter the dance.
- All Guests must present EITHER their CURRENT School I.D. or their Driver's License to enter the dance. Guests must be with their host to enter the dance.
- Appropriate dress is required for the dance (formal attire - No jeans or shorts).Attire must be clothing that adequately covers the body; no lingerie or undergarments exposed, no sheer or see through clothing, no excessive low cut dresses or tops. Shirts must remain on at all times (per DCHS Code of Conduct)
- Appropriate dancing is required.
- Coat check will be available for a small fee.
